Gracing the digital cover of Elle Magazine actress Jodie Turner-Smith stuns in Gucci gems and dishes us some sage advice when it comes to clothes and jewelry during the pandemic. “This idea of dressing up for you, of putting something on to enhance your own mood, just to do what you want to do and not necessarily even leave the house—because right now we’re not even doing that. FEBRUARY COVERS: Thelma West diamond drop earrings and Michelle Ong for Carnet bib necklace from Siegelson
Rihanna poses for the February edition Essence magazine photographed by Lorna Simpson. The collaboration between Rihanna and the acclaimed artist is an extension of Simpson’s ongoing project reinterpreting images of Black women who have posed the pages of Ebony and Jet magazines. For the cover, Riri wears Thelma West diamond drop earrings and a stunning diamond collar from Michelle Ong for Carnet. A crown of 19th-century lithographs of crystals is piled on her head – a result of Simpson’s work which recalls the images of women under beauty-salon lamps or donning mountains of curlers to set a hairstyle. The photograph is similar to Simpson’s Earth & Sky #5, #10, #16, and #24 (2016) shown below.
