Jewels from the runway: From Milan to Manhattan, jewelry looks and trends ripped from the runway
Nicolas Ghesquiere strikes silver for Louis Vuitton’s 2019 Cruise collection. No delicate or flimsy silver pieces here. Bold chunky and sculptural earrings and long dimensional link chains made their runway debut. What piece would we pick as the silver star of the LV collection? The chain necklace.

Dior’s 2019 cruise collection was centered around the escaramuzas horseback riders: female equestrians in the traditional Mexican rodeo and the prints of French Toile du Jouy fabrics which typically feature tigers, monkey and serpent motifs. Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri highlighted these animals as the main design in the jewelry. Brass logo ‘J’Adior’ Dior earrings were featured alongside asymmetrical earring pairings of Dior’s ‘Tribales’ studs and long pendant earrings featuring lion or monkey motifs wrapped around ball drops. Brass bracelets and necklaces took on the shape of bridles and bits (headwear equipment for horses) and were draped with double chains adorned with horses, horse heads and monkey pendants. This is not the first time Dior has tapped into horses as inspiration – remember their iconic and highly sought after saddle bag?

A nod to the Nineties, designer Miuccia Prada brought forth a collection of bold geeky prints and brocades, clean shapes and sporty jersey/leisure suits for its 2019 Resort runway show. This is the Prada we have come to know and love and what caught our eye besides those amazing giant trapper hats were the equally amazing bold large linked resin earrings and necklaces stamped with the words Prada on it.
