This week in celebrity jewelry news, the diamonds are drama-filled. Sophie Turner’s ring is playing musical chairs, Kelly Clarkson almost walked away with Jane Austen’s historic sparkler, and Mariah Carey just casually dropped nearly half a million on necklaces. Let’s break it down.
Sophie Turner’s Ring Switch: Engagement Rumors, Anyone?

Is Sophie Turner teasing us? On Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actress flashed a Briony Raymond Sloan Old Euro diamond ring on her right hand. But when she stepped out in Manhattan in sweats, the very same rock had migrated over to her left ring finger. She wore the diamond ring all day. Accidental switch, or is her beau, Peregrine Pearson, more serious than we thought?

How Kelly Clarkson Almost Stole Jane Austen’s Ring

Flash back to 2012: Kelly Clarkson swooped in at a Sotheby’s auction and scooped up Jane Austen’s gold and turquoise ring for £152,450, blowing past the reserve price. But the UK wasn’t about to let an American pop star run off with a national treasure. A temporary export ban blocked Clarkson from taking it home.
Cue The Jane Austen’s House Museum, which hustled to raise enough money (with a huge anonymous donation to seal the deal) to match Kelly’s bid and keep the ring in Britain.
Clarkson didn’t leave empty-handed, though. She was gifted a replica of Austen’s ring with diamonds by her then-fiancé, Brandon Blackstock, who had it designed and presented to her.

It was custom-made and served as a Christmas surprise for Clarkson, as he had been unable to secure the original ring. Honestly? Not a bad consolation prize.

Mariah Carey’s New $400K Necklaces Are Peak Diva Energy

Mariah Carey just upgraded her jewelry box with two necklaces worth a combined $400,000 from designer Mimi So’s Zozo collection, because why stop at one?

The first necklace, valued at $298,000, is a jaw-dropping black opal stunner featuring a rare 360-degree rainbow opal from Lightning Ridge, Australia, along with sapphires, spinels, tanzanites, and tourmalines sourced from around the world.

The second? A “symphony of colors” crafted in 18K gold worth $98,000. Designer Mimi So told WWD she envisioned them as “wearable art, splashes of paint color.” Mariah, of course, called them fresh luxury to celebrate her new album. Because when you’re Mariah, $400K in jewels is just like a regular Tuesday.
