Rihanna may have been spotted at the hospital and the internet is convinced Baby #3 is on the way. But the truth is, the clues have been sitting in plain sight all along, hidden in Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s jewelry.
From ruby reds to sapphire blues, the couple has been quietly telling us the baby’s possible gender, name, and even the due date through their high jewelry choices. Here’s why we believe Rihanna is expecting a a baby girl and why September is the month to watch!
IT’S A GIRL: THE RUBY & ROSE CLUES
The breadcrumb trail started at the 2025 Met Gala, where A$AP Rocky debuted a one-of-a-kind High Jewelry necklace from the Polychroma collection, set in platinum with a pear-shaped ruby, paired with a High Jewelry brooch featuring four buff-top rubellites from Bvlgari.
Rihanna herself leaned into the ruby theme, wearing ruby cuff buttons by Manish Malhotra.
The red thread continued in June at Jonathan Anderson’s Dior debut in Paris, where Rihanna wore a Lydia Courteille rose-adorned cameo ring, a nod, perhaps, to the name Ruby Rose.
At A$AP AWGE show also in Paris, Riri added to the speculation with a 19th-century gold medallion featuring a bouquet of diamonds, rubies and sapphires from Au Vase.
By Cannes on May 19th, A$AP was back in rubies, wearing a Bvlgari High Jewelry brooch and octagonal-cut rubellite ring at the premiere of ‘Highest to Lowest’.
Rihanna kept her pink streak going two days later, spotted shopping at the Messika boutique in Cannes with a baby pink ‘My Move‘ bracelet paired with her pink-dial Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch.
Adding even more weight to the theory, A$AP told Seth Meyers that the baby’s name will being with ‘R’. When taken together, the ruby jewels, the rose motif and the ‘R’ hint strongly suggest the arrival of a baby girl named Ruby or even Ruby Rose.
WHY SEPTEMBER: THE SAPPHIRE TRIAL
While the ruby and rose jewels hint to a girl’s name, the sapphire trail points directly to a September due date.
Back in April, during a Vogue shoot for the Met Gala, A$AP was styled in sapphire and diamond Van Cleef & Arpels brooches.
On her way to the Met Gala, Rihanna debuted her baby bump with a fur stole pinned by a Victorian Yogo sapphire, pearl and diamond brooch from Lang Antiques.
At the Gala itself, she added a Joseph Saidian & Sons cabochon sapphire and diamond ring and an $18,000 FD Gallery Lapis Lazuli Intaglio ring with lapis being another birthstone for September.
The sapphire and lapis hints didn’t stop there. At the Met Gala after-party, A$AP wore a Briony Raymond butterfly brooch decked out in lapis lazuli accents.
By May 8, A$AP doubled down with a Briony Raymond antique sapphire and diamond brooch on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
When viewed together, the gemstone choices become difficult to ignore: the rubies point to a girl, the roses suggest the name, and the sapphires highlight September on the calendar. All signs seem to suggest that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are sending sparkling clues that baby number three’s story is already being written in jewels.
